cat roulette

chatroulette is another one of those quirky phenomons taking the internet by storm. even mr. twitter, himself, ashton kutcher is giving it a go. impressive as that sounds, it's a brooklyn cat named "duck" who's already been seen over 70,000 times.

felines on facebook

is your cat on facebook yet? one million cats have profiles on catbook, an offshoot of facebook that lets users create profiles for their social network savvy felines.

other furry friends can get involved too with dogbook, horsebook, rodentbook, ferretbook, and fishbook.

the sites are a great way to chat with other pet lovers, find a play date, and connect with pet-friendly businesses.

make it pretty with a kitty!

new iphone application lets you add cats to your iphotos. why not? cats make everything a little bit cuter. though if you're reading this blog your camera roll is probably already full of cat pics. amirite?

a croation soccer player got a yellow card for removing a stray kitty from the playing field. cats are naturals at soccer, he probably thought the soccer ball was just a really big glitter ball.

here's the now-famous video of the adorably friendly little kitty who kept interrupting a police officer while he was issuing a ticket. while the officer was certainly professional enough we can't believe he was able to ignore the high level of cuteness. we would have been all over that little guy.

and just because we love goofy cat-humour, cats 4 gold! "lose the treasure, get the cheshire!"

keyboard cat and rubbinzes

if you haven't heard about the play him off, keyboard cat then this might seem a little strange. the phenomenon taking the interwebz by storm is the old vaudevillian concept of a piano man playing an act off the stage. in this modern set-up, a funny or odd youtube video is followed by a seemingly non sequitur keyboard-playing cat. why is it funny? who knows! our theory is that anything with a cat in it is automatically great.

in more interwebz-related cat news, a cat named sockington has reached an impressive 500,000 followers on twitter.com. the normal kitteh, via his guardian, tweets about his daily goings on from litter box trips to naps and everything in between. who knew a simple house cat could achieve fame and the admiration of hundreds of thousands of followers?

now for a bit of behavioral business. why do cats rub on things?

"by engaging in different types of rubbing, cats mark their territory and establish group scents, which are an important factor in maintaining group identity in multi-cat households. when cats rub up against one another, the activity is called allorubbing."

a round of rubbinzes for everyone!
