merry christmas from the gang!

pictured here is the whole crew. feel free to click on our smiling faces to see a bigger pic and a fantastic set of elf ears. we all got together over the weekend to celebrate another great year at MadCat. we've come a long way in the last seven years; we've grown and changed, tried new things, and had a lot of fun. one thing that has always remained the same is our commitment to the people and cats of madison. we're here for you and we're here because of you.

thanks, madtown!

happy holidays to you and yours from the whole gang.

snow day!

snomg! this storm has brought the city to its snow-pants-covered knees. the roads are wild, the banks are high and even the plows are getting stuck. with all that fun going on outside, we thought it best to close the mineral point road and monroe street stores at noon today. the willy st. location will remain open until 6:00pm for all of your kitty needs.

now go outside and make a snow-cat, get in a snowball fight, catch some flakes on your tongue and above all, stay safe.

this is madison in winter, folks. isn't it beautiful?

here, kitty kitty on pbs this saturday!

you may not remember everything that happened back in 2005, but you probably recall the proposal that got the whole state talking - question 62.  it was the proposal to declare feral cats an un-protected specie and therefore shoot-able.  thankfully, it didn't pass.  we like to think that it's failure was in large part due to the success of  local, feral-friendly group, don't shoot the cat, and the efforts of madcat's very own fearless leader, ted.

after the proposals failure, local filmmaker, andy beversdorf, filmed a documentary, called here, kitty kitty, that examined both sides of the argument and the controversy it caused.  happily, the documentary will be air this saturday night on pbs at 10:00pm, preceded by an interview with the director at 9:3opm.  be sure to tune in and check out ted and a couple of our now-famous west-side kitties as they tackle the issue that only pushed us further into no kill territory.

book store cat rivals the madcats for luvins

more proof that having cats make everything better, especially in public places like book stores.

"On Monday mornings you could see lipstick kisses on the window of a used bookstore downtown. Bar girl kisses, in pinks and reds, left behind for Silas the bookstore cat."

no lipstick for us, yet, but we do get tiny hand prints and toddler raspberries on our windows!

we get rayburn?

local radio guy, lee rayburn, did a very brave thing recently. he quit his job.

"my buddy at madcat (pet supplies) would probably let me stock the shelves for cat food if I get desperate," he joked.

madcat would like to publicly extend an offer of employment to mr. lee rayburn, friend of cats.
